Mooresville, Indiana – Earlier this year, the Gray Brothers Cafeteria facility located at 555 S Indiana Street was put up for sale. While the property was listed, the Mooresville location has not closed. Gray Brothers has continued its normal operations and is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 11 am to 8:30 pm.
The history of the Indiana Street location
Since 1944, the Gray family has continued the legacy of Forest Gray, founder of Gray Brothers Cafeteria, formally known as Gray’s Restaurant. A long-time, community favorite, the family has continued to provide high-quality, home-cooked food throughout the years. In the 1960s, the family strategically moved the business to Indiana Street. Throughout the years, Gray’s has continued to grow and be a staple in the Mooresville community.
The next step for Gray’s
The Gray family acknowledges everyone in the restaurant industry is facing challenges right now. Between inflation, the cost of ingredients, and the change in the industry’s landscape over the past five years, there are a lot of obstacles. However, the Gray Brothers brand remains committed to serving its homestyle meals to the community and hopes to stay local to the area.
“We love being here. It’s my job to make sure we’re fighting each and every day—that we don’t have to go anywhere. It’s not what I started here for. I started to carry on the legacies that have been going on for the last 80 years. We want to be here—to be a part of this community,” shared Jason Gray.
Business as usual
The Mooresville location is open at its normal hours of operation from 11 am to 8:30 pm on Tuesdays through Sundays.
“We would like to thank the town of Mooresville, our loyal customers, family and friends. Most importantly we would like to thank God for his blessings upon our business and family for the last 80 years. In the meantime, it will be business as usual in Mooresville as we move along in this process,” Shared Jason Gray.
